Why Rocket Art?
Rocket Art? That’s a weird name for a blog.
What does that have to do with coffee? Maybe these guys need to switch to decaf.
We know the name is different and might not make sense at first but, since we are not switching to decaf, let us explain.
The process of roasting coffee is interesting and strangely beautiful. The changing of color, the variety of smells, and the distinct tastes each play a part in the artistic process.
At the same time, there is a particular level of science involved. If you get too “artsy” with everything you will end up dancing in circles around the roaster while singing your favorite Beetles song, and forget to release the beans from the machine and burn down the building. Time, temperature, and technique certainly have their place in the roasting room.
That being said, it’s not rocket science. Though is not quite art. We prefer the term ROCKET ART.
The idea of ROCKET ART in roasting also applies to the way we do business. There is a method and strategic approach to how we operate, yet we are open to moving in new and creative directions. Like most of life, it’s about balance. ROCKET ART is our attempt at balance.
